This show seems instantly dated, but it’s still a hilarious title.  See the preview here.

2003 Ryan would have said this was the best music, ever

Thanks to my obsession with Grooveshark, my blog is quickly turning into a collection of playlists completely unrelated to my law school experience. Regardless, this is a collection of my favorites from the height of my emo phase. Note that I only included songs I loved back then, even if I no longer like the song/band. Except I still secretly love these bands. Especially Brand New and TBS.

I hope to supplement this with a 2004 list, in which college (and DC++) helped me discover much better whiny music.

Other playlists in the works: “Shitty music that I love,” “Pop-tastic,” and “I grew up in Texas.”

Music I listened to today, partly inspired by Chuck (and partly inspired by the great Emily Cox).

Also, I’ve updated the Winter Playlist to be playable via Grooveshark!

Bob Schneider will forever be associated with Joanna’s 2007 birthday drunkfest.  This is the only song I remember from the entire concert that night.

New York is for Spring Break

March 21, 2010 - 1:12 pm 1 Comment

Last week was easily the most exciting thing I’ve done since starting law school. I was invited to attend a three-day deposition in New York, and ended up working 10+ hours for four straight days. It was all very exciting — I was only supposed to sit and watch, but the partners ended up treating me and another student like mid-level associates. I can’t really talk about it, but the whole experience really got me excited for this summer.

I spent Friday and Saturday walking around Manhattan, visiting an old professor in Brooklyn, and generally enjoying the perfect 75 degree weather.

Believe it or not, people were still ice skating

How was everyone else’s week?

Spring Break Playlist

March 12, 2010 - 3:37 pm No Comments

It’s officially spring break at HLS, and I’m relieved to actually have a break this year.  I’ll be around Cambridge until Sunday, and then off on a road trip with my friend Joe.  We haven’t finalized anything, but I’ll definitely be in NYC from Tuesday through Thursday to watch a deposition for a case I’ve been helping out with.  I’ll have to resist the urge to shout “lawyered” every time the opposition makes a mistake.

In honor of spring break, here’s a list of (not spring-like) songs I’ve been listening to this semester.  It’s a lot of stuff from last summer, and doesn’t really need to be listened to in this order:

1. “Lisztomania,” Phoenix (if you didn’t guess this one, you clearly need to do a better job stalking me)

2. “Sleepyhead,” Passion Pit

3. “1901,” Phoenix (yeah, there are two Phoenix songs, almost back-to-back — YOU CAN JUST DEAL WITH IT)

4. “Reckoner Lockdown,” DJ Earworm

5. “The Sound of Settling,” Death Cab For Cutie

6. “Sweet Disposition,” The Temper Trap

7. “Publish My Love,” Rogue Wave

8. “Coconut Skins,” Damien Rice

9. “Talkin’ Bout a Revolution,” Tracy Chapman

10. “Lost My Shape,” David Bazan

11. “3 Rounds and a Sound,” Blind Pilot

12. “First Day of My Life,” Bright Eyes

13. “This Time Tomorrow,” The Kinks

It definitely doesn’t flow as well as my past playlists, but I was pressed for time.  Enjoy!

More on Legos, because they’re awesome.

I got my birthday present in the mail yesterday, and wasted no time putting it together.  It was a magical way to spend a Saturday.

Right after I finished filming this video, my friend Shelly chastised me for being the biggest nerd in the world.
