First post of 2007.

My first entry of the new year took a bit longer than I thought it would, and unfortunately you’ll have to wait a bit longer for anything substantive.  I didn’t want January to pass without an update on my life, so I decided to write something short.  First, I hope everyone noticed the updated the pictures on the main page.  I was a little rushed for time, but overall I am happy with the result.  I’m gonna try to change them more often (perhaps seasonally), so remind me to do that around the end of April.

School has gotten off to a good start.  At first I wasn’t signed up for two classes that I wanted to take, so I had brief moments of panic last week.  Fortunately, I contacted both professors last semester, and they were able to muscle me in to the classes, despite the unhelpful nagging of the advising department.  More than ever I am convinced that advisers are younger, glorified elementary school counselors.  They are so embarrassed by their lack of power that they grasp at any fragment of control at their disposal.  That said, one of the advisers was really nice and went out of her way to help me get into a class.  The other ones are all bitches.  Either way, the ordeal is over and I will hopefully never step foot in an advising office again.

I don’t have classes on Friday this semester, so my weekends have been long and enjoyable.  Last week Brandon, Charlie, Katherine, and Leahanne came to visit, which was great.  We saw Notes on a Scandal, ate Italian food at ASTI, watched drunk Aaron make a fool of himself, and spent a day in the park.  We also created an incredible new game called “Extreme Duck, Duck, Goose”.  The girls weren’t too keen on playing, but it has the potential for greatness.

Today I went out to dinner for Angel’s birthday, which included my first experience eating sushi.  I only had one piece (I ordered teriyaki chicken), but it wasn’t as bad as I expected.  I also had some vegetarian sushi, with avocado slices, that was incredible.  Then again, just about anything with avocado is amazing.  Anyway, I just wanted to wish a Happy Birthday to Angel, my new source of all things alcoholic.

Keith Olbermann is quickly becoming my favorite non-fake newsperson.  Watch his show sometime; it’s the best thing you’ll see on any of the major news networks.  Need more convincing: he’s one of the few newscasters who loves the Daily Show and Colbert Report…enough to regularly include clips from the shows in his “Top 3 Soundbites” section.

I saw this online the other day, and now I really wish they manufactured them.

That’s all I have for now.  I’ll start updating more regularly, so check back soon (i.e. this weekend).  For now: good night and good luck.
