One Year Later…

June 25, 2004 - 11:48 am No Comments

So my family has officially been back in Texas for one year today. That’s right, last June 25 I returned to the US and started my “new” life with Texas friends. This means that, one year ago today I met Veronica, Steph, Leahanne, Lisa, Kelli and Melissa (?) for the first time. It also means that it’s been a year since I was forced to sit through the two hours of crap that is known as The Hulk. Anyway, I just thought it was interesting that I’ve known many of my close friends for a year now. It’s pretty weird how much things changed over the course of one year. I know I’ve definitely changed…whether that’s a good thing or not is up to you. Ok, well for those of you who met me on this date, enjoy celebrating….I recommend plotting revenge, burning pictures of me and spitting on my car as some ways you can honor me on this momentous day.

Also, enjoy this picture of the Ryan you all grew to know and love/hate. What was I thinking when I decided to wear a bow-tie? Ok, so this song isn’t really symbollic or anything, I just love the Get Up Kids and the title of the song related to the day.

Wandering the K-10 As anniversaries end,
Pondering events that brought us here.
If anyone remember when Around the world and back again
Was a dream not quite so clear?
Overwhelms Over the hills and away Was not a mistake.
Did that straight and narrow,
Nailed self-righteous arrow Get to be so decadent?
Could you trade your lessons To have grown up in the process?
Remarks never relent.
Learned by your examples
And we learned by your mistakes.
Argue our positions, It’s a decision that we have to make.
It’s not a mistake If we had known What we know now:
One year later, we’d still be around.
Got your full attention Over hours of speculation,
Don’t you know who knows:? I know.
Finally make decisions? Finally work it out?
Finally let it go?
We’re not running backwards.
Don’t you know, That we love reunion shows.
This is not a swan song: But it goes:
If we had known what we know now:
One year later, we’d still be around.
If we had known what we know now:
One year later, we’d still be around,
around, around.

Summer reading

In an attempt to get a picture on Ryan Mora’s website, I am posting this picture of Ryan on my website. Come on, now it’s your turn.

So I haven’t done a whole lot for the past week. I’ve actually read a lot, which is surprising. I read a great book called Twelve after my friend Elizabeth recommended it. The book is about the troubles of our generation, and is told through numerous intertwining storylines. The great thing about it is that the chapters are short, and it reads really quickly. I also finished the third Harry Potter which was amazing! Now I’m reading Fight Club, which is amazing. The first thirty pages were so close to the movie that I found it hard not to see the scenes running through my head. Anyway, enough about books.

I’ve also been doing some work for my parents recently because I got a ticket and have to pay it off. So that sucks, but whatever. Ok, well I’m getting tired so I’m going to go to bed…but if anyone has something interesting to do this weekend, give me a call.

Ebay

So I’ve become addicted to Ebay.  I found out that one of my cheap DVDs (The Best of the Wonder Years) went out of print and was selling for over $30, so I decided to sell my copy.  I ended up selling it for $40!!  That’s insane considering I bought it for $6.  So after that I decided to try and sell a couple other DVDs that I didn’t want….it’s pretty fun.

Also, I’ve completely organized/cleaned my room.  Last week I was in a neat freak mood when all my old crap from Belgium came in.  It all had to go somewhere so I decided to finally clean my room.  I also finally put up posters so my room is not completely bare.  They are my crappier posters, because my good ones have frames that aren’t here yet, but at least I have something on my walls.

Summer has been pretty boring thusfar…we’ve just been hanging out every night.  Taco night was awesome though.  We need to start going places and doing stuff more often.  Once the weather clears up, I say we go to the beach and then start doing some of the stuff on our “free” list.  If you guys know anything fun to do in Houston for free, tell me on the forum!
